It's not easy being a new YouTube interface design and nobody knows that better than YouTube's old layout from 2010 to 2011.

Hi, I’m the old YouTube layout from 2010 to 2011, and I just wanted to say a few things to the new YouTube layout and just let you know...that it gets better

When I first came out in 2010, jesus, it was tough. People can just be so mean to a new interface. They called me gay, ugly, stupid. They even threatened my parents saying that they should just get rid of me.

I remember feeling like I wasn’t good enough or that maybe YouTube would be better without me, but you know what? I didn’t go anywhere. No

Instead, I improved as the months went on. I kept adding new features and adding new functionality. I realized that people didn’t hate me as a design, they just hated their own stupid selves.

Eventually, people warmed up to me and started to like and even love what I could do. Now the same people that hated me are demanding that I come back, saying that I was awesome and user friendly even. I wish someone would have told me that back in 2010. I could’ve used it.

Well now that you’re taking over people are going to call you all the same names, probably in all caps with terrible spelling errors, all while offering no real reason for their hatred. Ignore them. Hold your homepage up high, and be the best god damn YouTube layout you can be, because there really is a place for you here and you’re going to have a really great life.
