YouTube Gives Mad Props with "As Seen On"
If you embed a lot of YouTube videos on your site/blog/etc., you may end up seeing your name in green on YouTube. I'm talking about a new feature called "As Seen On" that gives credit where credit is due for helping make a video popular. Navigate over to youtube.com/news and you'll see it in action:
I did a little digging around in the source code, and that little green link is a do follow link; However, it appears that the link is a 303 redirect. From what I can tell, 303 redirects don't pass link popularity like a 301 redirect, so the main benefit of this link is traffic generation and not increased ranking potential.
Still, I think it's great that YouTube is showcasing the sites that drive the most traffic to a video and I think it is a great way to reach a different audience that may not be aware of your site on the most popular video viewing destination.
